Cecelia Buser is a Hawaii born artist, who currently resides in South Carolina. In 2017, she graduated from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with a Bachelors degree in Studio Art. Buser has shown her work at the Converse Milliken Art Gallery in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and at the Spartanburg Community College. Buser also has a permanent mural inside of Monsoon Noodle House in Spartanburg, South Carolina and has a piece of artwork in the Converse College Private Collection.
Applying the idea of self portraits and extending that theme to reveal images of the inner self while taking a more intimate look at the strong women in her life. Showing not only their portraits, but aspects of their everyday life, a closer look at who they are and their inner strengths and needs. These works pay homage to these strong women she admires.
Many of the images used are borrowed from their social media handles. Today’s society has a need share everything online, to show things that are important, the human image itself, everyday items, a memory, and the scenery that is important to them. The lifestyles of these people are represented through the use of sculpture, painting, and ceramics.
